a project of sorts

by | Sep 3, 2010 | Letterpress

We at a fine press love paper.  No, not the multi-purpose or copy paper that comes in cases of 5,000 sheets at your office.  What we really love is paper with some tooth. Well, tooth and a little bit of weight.  That’s because we love letterpress (and screenprinting and die-cutting and embossing and engraving and, and and…).  Letterpress and fountain pens and all things archaic and fancy.

The types of paper that play well with these things are exactly the type of paper we love.

Crane’s Lettra line is, hands-down, the de facto choice of house papers for more  print shops than you can shake a stick at.  We’d like to know what else is out there that you’re using to write letters or print posters or engrave invitations with.  Not only do want to know about it.

we want you to send us a sheet.

You heard us right.  We’re asking you to send us a sheet of your favorite thick, luxurious paper.

There’s not a great one-stop shop for printers and consumers (you can read brides and grooms here, if you’d like) to get a feel for what’s available.   We want to be that one-stop shop.

The details

Please leave a comment below telling us what you print with, make, or just have an extra sheet of on-hand.  If it’s something we haven’t already been sent, we’ll ask you to send us a sheet and we’ll send you a small token of our thanks in return.

A couple days later, you’ll be able to see your paper (with a link to your site accompanied by our gushing thank-yous) and all the details we can muster about it.

It’s that simple.

Ready?

Here we go.
