I’ve always thought I’d be far more impressive if I had an editor. From fixing simple mistakes in spelling and grammar to fully re-working my incoherent thoughts, an editor could take of some of my roughness and provide a little bit of polish.
Screw that.
I’ve been thinking and reading and absorbing a lot about inspiration lately. In doing so, I’m spending a lot of time engaging with the words of cats like James Victore and Aaron Draplin, two self-proclaimed blue collar designers worth their weight in gold (and that’s saying something!). These generous souls pour themselves into sharing and teaching as well as into their great DESIGN.
Here’s the thing: one of the things I love about these guys is how engaging and personal their communication feels. Man, I hate them for that. It’s just so hard for me to make that happen here. But I’m committed to trying. I’ve always believed that, in the age of facebook, it’s important for someone to be the same person online as he is in real life.
So that’s it. You probably won’t hear any “yer”s or “howdy”s out of me (unlike the gents above), but I’ve resolved to be me here in ways I haven’t quite figured out before.
And since I’m all about inspiring other creative types, check out this expanding origami bowl.
