You may have noticed that I don’t really care for trends. I believe a couple should celebrate their big day in the way that best represents who they are as people and as a couple.
However, when something I love gets a moment in the sun and couples are able to see more examples and inspiration, I’d call that a win!
Wood Doesn’t Have to Be Rustic
So, mason jar weddings are finally passé. We saw plenty of wood in rustic settings – from cake plate slabs to firewood centerpieces. It made sense.
But there are other ways to use wood.
One of my very first projects was a letterpress-meets-wood art deco invitation. It was for an inspiration shoot with Ashly Olivier and Tina Sargeant. It was outside at a horse farm, but it was far from rustic.
And there was the invitation I did for #theKnotGala for their wood (5th) anniversary. Jes Gordon and I worked on making something that was warm, yet incredibly glamorous. Not a bit of rustic in sight.
Wood has its moment.

I mean, come on! How cool is that‽
Moves like this mark the beginning of an era of wood-as-glamour.

I’ll revel in it while it lasts and continue to use it when it makes sense long after it’s had its fifteen minutes.
