I know a lot of creatives – graphic designers and makers and the like – who love the stereotypes of the right brain.
They’re night owls and disorganized. They create in a frenzy and seek the muse constantly.
It’s a romantic life.
And I think it might be complete crap.
I’m finding more and more that structure gives me the freedom to truly be creative.
Waking early. Daily routines like writing and sketching. Set processes so things don’t fall through the cracks.
I’m working on developing one strong habit a month. This month is daily writing and I haven’t done very well. Maybe March will be a repeat.
How about you? Have you found that discipline gives you space to do better creative work?
