Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to learn from Aaron Draplin. I enjoyed his speaking fiasco, but really dug the meat of two Q&A’s he presented.
I could probably write for a month on the things I learned, but one of my greatest takeaways was that I’m not sketching enough – from materials, layouts, and concepts to the actual graphic design, I don’t spend enough time scratching graphite across cellulose.
And I’m wondering: do you sketch?
Doesn’t matter who you are or what you do – floral design, furniture maker, graphic designer – do you sketch?
I know a lot of millenials claim they’re more proficient with a wacom and Ai (or their software of choice) and I used to believe that myself.
I’m growing to believe it’s a crutch for not putting in some hard work.
So I am.
And I’d like to know if you are, too.
