I’m stunned by the businesses that pop up in my town who seem hellbent on looking just like their corporate counterparts. Who insist on being as center-of-the-road and fitting in as much as possible.
It’s nearly impossible to distinguish them from one another or from their greater-reaching behemoth brothers, except for the higher prices.
Why would they do that to themselves?
In the next few months, I’ll be running an ad in a national publication and I’ve been researching the lay of the land. It’s amazing to me how nearly indistinguishable so many of the businesses who advertise are from one another. Every dress ad looks the same. Every couple are early-twenties WASPs. It’s ridiculous.
