Rilke – Widening Circles

by | Jan 21, 2014 | Uncategorized

There are a couple poets I love – most of whom I was exposed to during high school.

I’ve got a thing for Pablo Neruda and Langston Hughes. And I’ve got an enduring love for Rainer Maria Rilke. Rilke’s poetry is transcendental, but it was his Letters to a Young Poet that first hooked me. I’ve been re-reading this gem of a little missive and learning how to trust my own creative process again.

And it reminded me of my favorite poem by Rilke, translated here by Joanna Macy and Anita Barrows.
