the colorful gentleman

When it comes to men’s fashion, I’m a big fan of using a small pop of color to contrast a relatively muted palette. We’ve seen grooms do it with socks and men have long used pocket squares. Here’s a few more colorful accessories worth considering.

A new take on a classic, this is the Swatch Yellow Lacquered. With its exposed workings (a nod to the design of most automatic watches) and vibrant colors (there are plenty others to chose from), this is a playful, but sophisticated accent piece.STIFF pipe_blackNpistachio

Setting aside your feelings about tobacco products, pipes are often beautiful pieces of art. My friend Walt Cannoy is probably one of the most talented artists I know in any field and his primary outlet is pipemaking. These pipes from STIFF are alluring in a completely different way. Evocative of a Mad Men-era bakelite fantasy, there’s a sleek and cool sophistication to these pipes that would pop against your finest charcoal suit.
Top and Derby CaneSo, as much as it shames me to admit it, there was a time when the Kardashians made a weekly appearance in our house (via the tube). And, even though I generally find him obnoxious and lacking in subtlety, Scott Disick often wore some pretty sweet ensembles. Remember the cane episode? My wife had to beg me not to go out an buy a cane the next day. Had this cane from Top and Derby been available, I would have been unable to oblige her. Man, this thing is sleek. Like smoking, I cannot encourage faking an injury for fashion’s sake, but if you happen to be in need (or want) of such a device, you’d be hardpressed to find a cooler one.
