How do you handle the unexpected?
I like to believe I thrive on change, but if I’m honest, I thrive on positive change.
The not-so-positive stuff? It sucks.
Like yesterday morning. I woke up to find my website – this website – all but paralyzed. It was there, but not even the patience of Job would be enough to sit through a pageload. In the end, the only viable choice was to nuke it and launch the new website I had started working on…in a state of utter incompletion.
Welcome to 2016.
And I’ve been scrambling to get enough of this website to a place that you might call functional and hopefully give you some eye candy. I’ll have to re-place every single image on the entire site. And I’m missing some key content that I just hadn’t written yet for this new format.
No time like the present.
And then I realized
This is just the first of many unexpected events I’ll encounter in the new year. It’s the first of many chances to handle curveballs with grace and faith. It’s the first of many opportunities to see the world through a different lens.
It’s the start of a new year.
And it’s perfect timing.
I just sent this little card out to a few friends last week. A wish for a happy new year. But even more so, it’s a wish that we all learn to roll with the punches a little more. To embrace the inevitable change hurtling towards us with open hearts.
So here’s to the new year and here’s to you.
See more of the card here.

And if you’re looking at AFinePress.com in the early weeks of 2016, know that it’s a reflection of me rolling with the punches.
