Music Mondays | Sylvan Esso

Music Mondays: because life’s better with a soundtrack.   How has this album been out for a year and I missed it entirely? I'm glad to now be hip to Sylvan Esso and I hope you are, too!

Music Mondays | the Lamest of All Adjectives

Music Mondays: because life’s better with a soundtrack.   Having grown up in a pentecostal church, I rode the wave of mediocre CCM (that's Contemporary Christian Music) like a champion surfer. It wasn't until my late teen years that I started to question how a...

A Little Trendcasting with Creative Arts Unlimited

The good folks at Creative Arts Unlimited (have you seen their incredible work?!) posted this sometime around the new year: Now, if you've been reading my little musings for any length of time, you might know that I don't care much for trends. I think that personal...

Art as Inspiration | Andy Goldsworthy

Meet my current obsession. His name is Andy Goldsworthy. It's no secret that I love art. I believe wedding planners, wedding designers and, in general, all wedding-related people should be looking to art instead of other weddings for their inspiration. This guy...

Why Are There Minimum Quantities for Custom Invitations?

Call me reductionist, but I think it's dumb for a custom stationer to have minimum order quantities for hand-crafted stationery. Here's why they do it The lion's share of the cost of an invitation happens before ink ever meets paper. It's in the design and in ordering...

Music Mondays | Happy Birthday, Ornette

Music Mondays | John Hollenbeck Large Ensemble

Music Mondays: because life’s better with a soundtrack. I can't believe I've not yet shared with you the music of one of the most transformational times in my life. It was 2007 and I was in graduate school. I had the opportunity to attend what would wind up being the...

How Much Do Letterpress Wedding Invitations Cost?

How Much Do Letterpress Wedding Invitations Cost?

First, A Little History A lot has changed in the world of letterpress printing. Presses that were once the center of every print shop in America suffered neglect and were often scrapped in the name of progress. New, more efficient technologies...

What #TheDress Has To Do With Your Wedding

It hasn't even been 24 hours and the western world is already drawing battle lines. Are you team #BlackAndBlue or team #GoldAndWhite? My own house is divided, with me firmly in the #BlackAndBlue camp while my wife has seen it both ways. It's kind of crazy. And really...

Music Mondays | Clark Terry

Music Mondays: because life’s better with a soundtrack. We're at a time in history where the great musicians of my favorite art form are passing with some regularity. Last week, we lost a titan. Clark Terry "has joined the big band in heaven where he'll be singing and...

The club was opened in August 1978 by Steve Fallon. When the Fallon family bought the corner building in uptown Hoboken with its street-level tavern, Steve Fallon’s sisters Kathryn Jackson Fallon and Anne Fallon Mazzolla along with brother-in-law Mario Mazzola were interested in turning the factory workers’ tavern (General Foods’ Maxwell House Coffee factory was a block away on the Hudson River) into more of a restaurant. The Hoboken band “a” (featuring Glenn Morrow, Richard Barone, Frank Giannini, and Rob Norris; the latter three later forming The Bongos) asked if they could rehearse in an unused back room and play a few gigs in the front for the restaurant’s patrons.

Hand-Cancelled Postage for Your Wedding Invitations

There are some couples for whom sending out printed invitations is a necessary burden (even a few who opt not to at all). There are some couples that can find the perfect pre-designed invitation (like our Humble Beginnings line). Then there are some couples who need...
